Squirrel. . . .

I am supposed to be cleaning my craft room today. I have taken care of the attached guest bedroom where everything got tossed the months of November and December. Every time I try to get stuff put away I see something I want to try to do/make. Then I get started making/doing and then "squirrel"... I see something else that reminds me to do/try something else. (The "squirrel" reference is from the movie Up!)

I scrap-booked with some friends on Thursday. Thanks to Brenda Schultheis and Cathy Kinzer I now can turn on my new Cricut machine. I even cut some hearts on my own today. Couldn't remember how to re-size them using the buttons, but it was ok. I just wanted to turn it on and make it do something on my own. I am almost done with the "Month of December" scrapbook, but we ran out of ink so that it will have to wait until I go to town.

I noticed on Facebook that a second cousin got engaged over the holidays. So of course I had to go look through my wedding photos to see if I had anything of her from 15 years ago. I found one of her, but she was dancing with me so it was only her head. I did find this adorable pic of my niece, Quincy Gundersen, and our friend Erika Newman--flower girls in our wedding.

Now that I have updated my blog with a bit from my scrambled, unorganized, scatter-brained world--I am headed back to tackle my out of control "to-do" list.

craft shows

November 17th is from 9-4 at the Grange in Palouse.
I will be there with Kristi Overfelt, Patty Snyder and Julie Miller. We will be selling papercrafts, collage art and some clearance stamp sets.

December 1 is only from 9-noon at my house with Shai Ann Collier. This is a chance for Shai and I to sell some crafty things we have been making. We also use it as a chance to sell some furniture and household stuff from our houses. This year we hope to also have some outdoor greenery arrangements.

a wonderful weekend

Unpacking today from a wonderful weekend at the Palouse Divide Lodge. Pajama days, no cooking, no cleaning, just crafting. Here is the room before everyone arrived:

We had thirty one women this four day weekend. Each of them had their own table to spread out. Some were scrapbookers, some were quilters, some were papercrafters and some were a mix of it all. We watched movies, danced, giggled, napped and enjoyed the company. Lane and Shirley take such good care of us. We even played Bunco with some of the women from the other craft group in the other lodge. There was even a lady giving massages. Wonderful!!

Julie Miller and I arrived on Wednesday night to set up. I just love spreading all my crafty stuff out on the table. My clipboard had my list of things to get done. Just realized this morning, I forgot to add a couple things to the list. Good thing I'm taking today off work.

It even snowed one day--love it!!!  Until it was time to clean off my car to go home. I didn't have an ice scraper in my car. Brrrr! Thanks to Kris Allen for sharing hers.

Loved seeing all the tables fill up with creative goodness!

I'm already thinking about when we get to go back in March.

sneak peek of Stampin Success!

Just saw that Stampin Up! is updating their website this month--November 15th. Make sure to check it out at www.stampinup.com  I love to see the changes and updates they have made over the past 12 years that I have been a demonstrator.

Also--here is a peek into a wonderful publication I get from SU as a benefit of being a demonstrator. They have recently updated this program and have changed to sending them every other month. I am always behind on reading it, so I like the bi-monthly issues. Plus, there are more ideas!!  Click on this pic to see:

Here are the projects by Patty Snyder. So adorable--loving the biscotti wrap!

I am loving the Scentsational Season Bundle from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Kicking myself for not ordering it sooner. Luckily Patty will be at the PDL this weekend, so I can borrow it for a while. My favorite image is the snowflake mug. What's yours??

Holiday stamp camp continued . . .

Here are two more of the projects we are doing for the Holiday Stamp Camp on Saturday December 8th at the Palouse Community Center. These are from Anna Nofsinger, one of the participating Stampin' Up! demonstrators. Loving the cute ornament as it would be a cute gift bag embellishment too.

Who is paying attention???

I've been busy with Haunted Palouse lately.  I won't scare you with pics of what I've been doing there, eeek!  Tonight is the last night and it is raining, boo! I am hoping to get some crafting done today and tomorrow while my wonderful family rakes leaves and does some errands around town. I have been  a bit lax in my blog posts and so my goal for the weekend is to remedy that bit of my life.

Here is a project modified from some leftovers of a private class I did for Nicole Flansburg last weekend.

I made four bags complete with tissue to give away today. I am going to give these to the first four people that respond.  Winners need to leave their name in a post on this blog site and must be local as I have no way to mail these bags. Just log in as anonymous if you don't have a google account and leave your name in the post.  I will contact the winners and arrange delivery.

October is flying by . . .

The month of October just goes by in a blur at our house. I just realized I hadn't posted anything in a few days. Luckily I had this cute little witch's broom (given to me by Patty Snyder) and a little note card handy at work today. The broom is just a piece of black licorice in a skinny cello bag (SU) and a piece of Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP. It is simply adorable. The note card has a belly band and I attached two bats from a retired punch. Gotta love using up the scraps!!!

my bad

I've been busy with Haunted Palouse this weekend and having Dad over for a visit. I do apologize for no new posts since Tuesday---aaaack!!  My goal for the day is to set up some new classes on my calendar. Here are some pics from the private class I did for Nicole Flansburg yesterday morning.

It was a fun class. Nicole got to choose between the banner and the Thanksgiving frameable piece. She chose the banner. And if she got over 6 people to attend, she got an extra project for everyone to do which was the candle. Participants paid $5 each for doing the project which was waived if they planced a SU order. I arrived at about 10:00 to Nicole's to set up. She had lots of kids coming, so I enlisted the help of Emily to babysit. People arrived about 10:30 and we started stamping at about 11:00. I was done, cleaned up and out the door by a bit after noon. It was fast and fun!!!  If you are interested in this sort of class for you and your friends, please get in touch. I have some more cute ideas to share.

Halloween scrapbook pages

Alright so with all the power outages last night I forgot to get a blog post done. I quickly, as in about 5 min,  went to MDS2 and created these two pages this morning. Once I posted them I realized I have the date wrong, Emily and I are second guessing on the date of these pics-- so I will correct the originals before I print them or send them to friends. The only thing I did to these pages was add pictures and on the second one add a punch with some journaling. If anyone is the least bit interested in digital scrapbooking, download the 30 free trial from the SU website :-)  We can learn it together!!!

Halloween treats with scraps

Spent some time on Sunday crafting some Halloween treats for our trick-or-treaters. It was a fun way to use up some scraps of retired Designer Series paper.

Day four--still learning

This was a card sample I was trying out for my upcoming scrapbooking retreat at the Palouse Divide Lodge. It is not really my style, but I was enjoying the challenge. I did end up finalizing a design for the PDL weekend and even sent it off to print. It ended up only being $1.35/card +shipping. Thanks to SU for permanently lowering their print prices!!!  You can print directly from your printer, but I knew I was running low on ink and had no time to run to town for more.

digital scrapbooking, day three

The thing I figured out today was that even with the pre-designed pages, everything can be moved and changed. I deleted parts of the page that I didn't like, moved elements, and added more embellishments. I copied the blue ribbon element and pasted a second one between the green paper layer along the bottom, too. Thanks to Windy Tevlin for all the photography. I seriously need to take more pictures and learn how to take better ones!

Emily and I are off to the orthodontist today up in Spokane. We are hoping to make it to Trader Joe's and Target, too.

Enjoy your Friday everyone!!

Day two--learned a little bit

I learned a little bit by designing a simple tag. I wanted to try the new feature called a "coloring tool."  It is just like using markers on a stamp instead of getting one color when using an ink pad. SU has also made it easier to add layers of different paper to the layout.
this was the front of the 3x3 tag
this was the inside, I wanted a white base card so the color would show better. I used the coloring tool to change both the verse images. Hard to see, but the top image is chocolate chip and pumpkin pie. The bottom, or inside, is pumpkin pie and baja breeze.

Day one of digital scrapbooking

Ok I already own the My Digital Studio software from SU--I bought it last year when I needed to make Mike's mom a simple scrapbook for Christmas. She has Alzeimer's and hasn't lived at home for a few years now. The nurses told us that she really enjoyed looking at the pictures of people she had known.  I made a 12 page album and printed it out in one night. It was not fancy--period. I have been trying to get into digital scrapbooking a bit more. I really thought it would be a great project for the trips across the state to see relatives. Problem was that Mike wasn't able to go very often, so therefore I had to drive. Very hard to scrapbook and drive . . .

So SU announced a new upgrade to the digital scrapbooking software--I admit, I never even checked it out. That is until we went to Regionals and saw a presentations on all the changes and upgrades. I didn't get to see a lot of the details, but I am planning to get in touch with the presenter. They have added more ways to personalize and adjust to your own preferences. I decided that when I got home I would download the free 30 day trial version and check it out. Well, I didn't get that done until late Sunday night. Up early on Monday morning as usual I pushed a few buttons and tried a few things out and look what I did in about 30 seconds:
Now I used a picture that my friend, Windy Tevlin, had taken of Emily ealier this summer. I just needed to figure out how to share the projects, so I just wanted something quick. This was using a pre made template, but even then everything on the page could be changed if I wanted to move things around. There were even spots for three more pictures along the right side, but I just wanted to see something finished so left them un-filled. I found a great resource for using My Digital Studio--aka MDS and now the new version is MDS2:

SU has just announced that they have slashed the prices up to 50% FOREVER!!
on cards, photobooks, everything!!
Click here to see the price list

Watch for more projects and info to come as I learn how to use MDS2
and figure out more about digital scrapbooking

Digital scrapbooking--notes from Regionals

SU has been busy with upgrades and changes to their digital scrap booking program. There are now a lot more ways to edit and control what you create. I have the original "My Digital Studio" and am planning to give the MDS2 a try. I will be posting projects on Palouse Papercrafter as I go to share what I learn and what I like along the way.

SU is offering a 30 FREE trial for MDS2, then if you decide you need more there are three options. You can  just purchase the MDS2 software (for $39.95), the full software plus $500 worth of content (for $79.95), or just the upgrade if you already have My Digital Studio (for $19.95).

Since I was a helper for the Regional event last weekend, I missed part of the demonstration. The little bit I did see impressed me as it seemed to have more control for changing parts. For example, you could choose a stamp image and instead of just one color you could use virtual markers and make it different colors.

a bit of Halloween decorating

I got started on my Halloween decorating this weekend. I continually tweek things right up until the 31st. I really like the purple lights this year.

I love pumpkins!!

This little witch makes me giggle every year I put her out.

This is the display on the hutch in my entry. I got the wall hanging from Trellis up in Spokane a couple weeks ago with the WWS--total score!!!
